Delete your account
You can delete your Yem account and personal data whenever you like, right from the app. Here's how to do it, and what happens to your data afterwards.
Delete your account in the app
- Open Yem and go to Settings .
- Select Security.
- Choose Delete account, then confirm with your password.
If you own a household with other members, transfer ownership to someone else first - then you can delete your account.
Can't sign in?
If you can't get into your account, email us - we'll delete your account and data for you, or help you regain access so you can do it yourself: privacy@yemapp.com
What gets deleted
Deleting your account permanently removes your personal data - your private tasks, calendars, and shopping lists. If you're the only member of a household, the household and everything in it is deleted too. This can't be undone.
What we keep, and why
- Messages you sent in shared conversations stay, shown as "Deleted user", so the conversation still makes sense for everyone else. If you'd rather not, you can delete individual messages in the app before you delete your account.
- If your subscription ends, your household stays in read-only mode for 90 days so you can export your data - after that it's permanently deleted.
- Invoice and transaction records are kept for up to 5 years, as required by the Norwegian Bookkeeping Act. We only ever use them for accounting.
Want a copy first? You can export all your data from the app before you leave.
